Dell to Close Plant

Story

Well, there goes the neighborhood. I'm pretty sure at least 50% of the people living around me work for Dell.

Court Upholds Smoking Ban

Story

I don't smoke. In fact, I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. So, I have to put my libertarian leanings aside when talking about the Austin smoking ban, but not really. For one, any true libertarian should think like this: I can do whatever I want as long as it does not harm another person.

Anyone who would fight this kind of thinking must be too stupid to read the warning on the pack of their cigarettes, which states: This shit is gonna kill you and everyone around you. But this is a free country! Yeah, until you take a gun and start shooting everyone.

The smoking ban is one of the reason I love living in Austin. I used to live in Wichita Falls, TX. You could smoke anywhere. You could walk up to a baby and blow smoke directly into its face and no one would care. Everytime you would leave your house, you'd come home reeking of smoke and you'd have to take a shower to get the smell out of your hair. You couldn't just leave your dirty clothes in the hamper either because the smell would still fill up your room. If I didn't do this, I'd wake up the next morning with a sinus infection.

If it weren't for the smoking ban, I would probably never leave my house or I'd move somewhere where they have a smoking ban. So, I'm very thankful that this is in place.

Nipple Bombs

So this woman was flying out of Lubbock to Dallas and her nipple rings set off the metal detector. Story : Woman Says TSA Forced Piercings Removal

My favorite quote "The last time that I checked a nipple was not a dangerous weapon."

What is this woman talking about? Does she not know what she is carrying? Nipples have the power to rule the world.

Ain't ever been with your little hoodrat friend

The Hold Steady

Last night we took advantage of this and headed to Emo's to see The Hold Steady. These guys are definitely one you have to see live. Their albums don't do them justice. Craig Finn is an animal. The guy was all over the stage. He's a hyperactive puppy on speed.

After the show, walking back to my car, I noticed someone kneeling by the car next to mine, holding a beer in one hand and holding onto the car with the other. "Geez, that person looks drunk and wobbly," I thought. Upon closer review, I got the full view of some girl's ass as she was squatting to take a pee. Where is my camera when I need it?

Oh no, not another stupid blog about Austin

Oh yes, it's another stupid blog about Austin. More importantly, it's about me and living in Austin, far Northwest Austin, not exactly Cedar Park, but it's close. I'm about as far out as one can go and still call himself an Austinite.

So, what am I going to find in this blog?

Well, basically it's going to be about myself and my thoughts and my adventures in Austin. I will also try to comment on worldwide news stories as well as new stories that pertain to Northwest Austin and just things I think are funny and/or amusing. I assume this blog will be ever evolving until I find my niche.

Why should I read this blog?

You may enjoy this blog if you live in Austin or have an affinity for Austin and/or myself. I have a strange sense of humor and have been writing humor columns, reviews, news stories, etc. on and off for about the past 10 years. I may also have some friends guest blog from time to time.

I guess that's all I want to say for now. End of first blog.
